When is Chinese New Year 2025?
Chinese New Year this year takes place in the middle of the work-week, with the first two days landing on Wednesday, 29 January, and Thursday, 30 January. It is the zodiac Year of the Snake.
While the festival is customarily celebrated for 15 days, only 20 and 30 January are gazetted as public holidays. Still, this means with only one day's leave taken on Friday, 31 January, you can enjoy a five-day weekend!
Singaporeans celebrating CNY would typically have their reunion dinner on the night before the first day of CNY (in this case, on CNY Eve, which is on Tuesday, 28 January).
