Buy Seedly Travel Protector Insurance Online

Seedly Travel Insurance was launched by Singaporean homegrown personal finance platform Seedly in late 2023. It’s designed to offer Singaporeans a comprehensive and affordable option for travel insurance, allowing them to travel and explore the world safely and securely without breaking their budget.

Both the Individual and Family Plan come in two tiers—Seedly Travel Safe and Seedly Travel Secure—which encompass varying coverage levels with eight complimentary riders to cover common travel needs. This includes options for COVID-19 coverage, trip cancellations, natural disasters, and adventure sports/activities coverage.

Both policies are underwritten by HL Assurance and distributed by SingSaver.

What do Seedly’s travel insurance plans cover?

Lost and Damage of Baggage

Seedly Travel Insurance ensures that you are compensated for the loss or damage of your personal belongings during transit. This includes reimbursement for items that are permanently lost, stolen, or damaged while travelling, as well as baggage delays.

Accidental Death & Permanent Disablement

In the unfortunate event of serious accidents, Seedly Travel Insurance provides financial protection against accidental death or permanent disablement that might occur during your travels. This extends to Adult policyholders up to and above 70 years old.

Double Public Transport Coverage

Travellers using public transport will find additional peace of mind with Seedly Travel Insurance's double coverage benefit, which offers increased compensation in the event of accidents while using public transportation abroad. This may be appealing to travellers seeking Japan trip insurance, or coverage for similar destinations with a robust public transport system.

Child Support Grant for Each Dependent Child

For families travelling with children, Seedly Travel Insurance offers a child support grant of up to S$30,000 per dependent child. This grant will be paid out should the Adult bearer of the policy sustain a Bodily Injury causing Death, offering your Child(ren) financial assistance in case of such a tragedy.

Overseas Funeral Grant

In the case that the policyholder suffers a Death due to Bodily Injury or Sickness while travelling, Seedly Travel Insurance offers a grant of up to S$8,000 for funeral services held in the overseas locality where the Death occurred.

Compassionate Visit Benefit

If you are hospitalised for seven (7) consecutive days during your trip due to Bodily Injury or Sickness and need a family member to visit, Seedly Travel Insurance covers the travel and accommodation expenses for one relative up to S$10,000.

Hospitalisation Coverage

This includes coverage for hospital stays and hospital cash allowance incurred while abroad, ensuring you're not left facing hefty bills in a foreign country. Hospital cash allowance can also be claimed for treatment sought in Singapore for Bodily Injury or Sickness sustained while abroad, provided you are hospitalised immediately upon your return.

Trip Inconveniences & Personal Belongings

Seedly Travel Insurance coverage for trip inconveniences include emergency medical evacuation, repatriation of mortal remains, trip cancellation/curtailment/delay/postponement, overbooked flight(s), misconnection(s), and delayed/lost baggage and personal effects, amongst others.

Adventurous Activities

For the thrill-seekers, Seedly Travel Insurance’s AdventureCover provides coverage for several adventurous activities such as hiking, mountaineering, and scuba diving that are typically excluded from standard travel insurance policies.

Travel Security

Added benefits like emergency assistance services, support in case of lost travel documents or theft abroad, partial terrorism cover, and home contents cover are included in Seedly Travel Insurance to assure you peace of mind throughout any overseas adventure.

Seedly Travel Insurance Policy & Coverage Types Available

Individual Trip Coverage

The Individual policy extends to a single solo traveller, and is available in single-trip or annual multi-trip forms. Policyholders can also choose from one of two tiers—Travel Safe and Travel Secure—with varying coverage levels.

Family Trip Coverage

The Family policy covers either:

• One (1) Adult and any number of the Adult’s Child(ren) or Grandchild(ren); OR
• Two (2) Adults who need not be related to each other and any number of the Adult’s Child(ren) or Grandchild(ren).

Child(ren) or Grandchild(ren) must be unemployed, unmarried, and above three (3) months of age up to 18 years old or 25 years old (if studying) to be counted under the plan. This makes Seedly Travel Insurance suitable for parents or grandparents wanting to travel with their children or grandchildren without needing to opt for additional riders or add-ons – making spending family time together overseas more affordable and accessible.

Single Return Trip

Seedly’s Single Return Trip is suitable for occasional travellers and covers you for one specific trip up to 182 consecutive calendar days, providing comprehensive benefits for the duration of your journey.

Annual Multi-Trip

The Annual Multi-Trip option is better suited for frequent travellers (be it for business, leisure, or personal reasons) and offers coverage for multiple trips within a 12-month period. Each trip must be no longer than ninety (90) consecutive days.

When buying Seedly Travel Insurance, knowing if you can cancel your travel insurance and get a refund is just as important as knowing your coverage limits. After all, you don’t want to be left holding the bag in case anything unexpected happens and you can’t make it for your trip as planned.

How Does The Claiming Process Work for Seedly Travel Insurance?

Step 1: Document what’s happened in preparation for your insurance claim

Should any incidents happen that you wish to claim under your Seedly Travel Insurance, immediately take photos or recordings to serve as verification that the incident has happened (e.g. photos of damaged luggage, or photos of delayed flight information). Other forms of documentation that can support your claim include:

  • Medical reports, photos, and/or email evidence
  • Proof of ownership for claimed items
  • Travel-related documents (e.g. copies of passport/visa, invoices, tickets, boarding passes)
  • Original invoices and receipts
  • Reports from police, airlines, and other transport or accommodation providers (e.g. airline report for lost baggage with proof of denial or partial compensation by the airline)

Step 2: Submit a travel insurance claim to HLAS within 30 days

Once you’ve secured the documentation to support your claim, you must report the claim to HLAS (which underwrites Seedly Travel Insurance) within 30 days. This can be done via HLAS’s travel insurance claim portal.

Step 3: Await your travel insurance claim status

HLAS will assess your claim on a case-by-case basis and determine whether it is eligible under your Seedly Travel Insurance policy. HLAS may request additional examinations such as medical or post-mortem examinations (should you experience Bodily Injury, Sickness, or Death) in order to fully process the claim.

HLAS will then update your claim status via your registered email address. You may also log into the HLAS travel insurance claims portal for the latest claim update status.
