Ever since it received a major buff back in April 2023, the DBS yuu Card has been the only sensible option to use at yuu merchants such as Cold Storage, Giant, gojek, foodpanda and Singtel.
Cardholders earn up to 36 yuu Points per S$1 spent, which is equivalent to a rebate of 18%. That’s simply unbeatable by any other card on the market, and even though this kind of generosity won’t last forever, it’s all about enjoying things while we can.
But if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines because you prefer earning miles over rebates, here’s some good news: the DBS yuu Card now lets you earn miles too, with up to 10 miles per S$1 (mpd) on offer at yuu merchants!
yuu Rewards Club now offers KrisFlyer miles conversions
yuu Rewards Club has added Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer as a points transfer partner, with conversions now available at a ratio of 3.6 yuu Points = 1 KrisFlyer mile.
All conversions are free of charge and processed instantly, and there is no cap on the maximum number of yuu Points you can convert to KrisFlyer each year.
To convert yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles, visit the yuu app and tap on Me in the bottom right hand corner. Navigate to Transfer to KrisFlyer, then enter your membership number and the number of points you wish to convert. A minimum conversion block of 200 yuu Points (56 miles) applies, after which conversions are in blocks of just 1 mile.
Because conversions are free of charge and instant, yuu Points are a great way of topping up a KrisFlyer account quickly when you spot an award redemption you want to take advantage of. The relatively small conversion block also means you won’t need to transfer more points than you need. This compares favourably to traditional credit card points, which normally require a minimum transfer amount of 10,000 miles, and 2-4 working days to process.
What does this mean for the DBS yuu Card?
By way of recap, when spending at yuu merchants, the DBS yuu Card earns:
- A base reward of 10 yuu Points per S$1, with no minimum spend or cap
- A bonus reward of 26 yuu Points per S$1, with a minimum spend of S$600 and a cap of 15,600 points (which also works out to a cap of S$600)

This works out to an overall reward of 36 yuu Points per S$1, which given the conversion rate of 3.6 yuu Points to 1 mile, is equivalent to 10 mpd.
There is no other card on the market that even comes close, as the nearest competitors max out at “only” 4 mpd. Therefore, there’s no reason to use any other card at yuu merchants, at least as long as this promotional rate is available.

Don’t forget the minimum spend!
The DBS yuu Card only earns 36 yuu Points per S$1 at yuu merchants if the cardholder meets a minimum spend of S$600 per calendar month. Otherwise, the earn rate will be 10 yuu Points per S$1.
The S$600 minimum spend consists of all retail transactions, whether at yuu merchants or otherwise. However, you will obviously want to clock it on yuu merchants as far as possible, since spending at non-yuu merchants earns just 1 yuu Point per S$1. The more you spend on non-yuu merchants, the lower your weighted average earn rate.
Be mindful of the cap!
The DBS yuu Card only earns 36 yuu Points per S$1 at yuu merchants up to a maximum spend of S$600 per calendar month. Any spending beyond this amount is rewarded with 10 yuu Points per S$1. While that’s not a terrible return (2.78 mpd), it’s also not as good as the 4 mpd alternatives offered by other banks, so be careful not to overshoot the mark.
In case you were wondering, the DBS yuu AMEX and DBS yuu Visa each have their own bonus points cap, so if you have both cards, your 10 mpd is capped at S$1,200 per calendar month instead. The points earned will be pooled into the same yuu Rewards Club account.
It won’t last forever
Of the 36 yuu Points per S$1 earned by the DBS yuu Card at yuu merchants, the bonus 26 yuu Points per S$1 is positioned as a limited-time offer. In fact, it was originally set to end on 29 February 2024, but was subsequently extended “until further notice”.
Needless to say, it won’t be possible to offer this forever. It’s quite clearly a loss-leader strategy designed to draw customers into the yuu ecosystem, and there will come a point where the focus switches from acquisition to profitability.
But there’s no point speculating just when that day will be, and the old mantra to make hay while the sun shines was never more appropriate.
Conclusion
The yuu Rewards Club has launched a partnership with Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, which allows for the transfer of yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles at a 3.6:1 ratio. This turns the DBS yuu Card into a 10 mpd option for spending within the yuu ecosystem, an earn rate that is unmatched elsewhere.
If you haven’t hopped on the wagon just yet, you should seriously consider doing so sooner rather than later, as the upsized earn rate won’t be around forever. Whether you prefer miles or rebates, the DBS yuu Card is too good an opportunity to be missed.
