7 Reasons Why Men Should Sign Up for Women’s Credit Cards

The best women’s credit cards are thoughtfully tailored to cater to women’s wants, needs and spending habits. The perks thrown in with these ladies cards are also specifically chosen to target what Singapore women generally enjoy — shopping, dining and travel.

That being said, credit cards designed for us ladies aren’t necessarily reserved for women only; guys can enjoy the benefits of using some of these credit cards, too.

Women’s spending habits that banks target

Women’s credit cards tend to be more targeted towards the lifestyle patterns of women, such as more frequent in-store and online purchases, more big-ticket purchases (think: branded goods), more grocery shopping, more frequent booking of vacations, and indulging in beauty and wellness treatments, etc.

How can men benefit from using the best women’s credit cards?

#1 Earn accelerated rewards on online shopping

Let’s face it, most women love shopping, both online and in-store. It’s precisely why credit cards targeted at women allow users to earn bonus rewards on their shopping purchases.

That being said, men can and do shop online too. There’s no stopping savvy male shoppers from chalking up 10X Rewards Points (i.e. 4 mpd) on their online purchases using cards like Citi Rewards and DBS Woman’s World Card.

#2 Snag shopping, travel, beauty & wellness discounts

Nobody says men can’t have their cake and eat it too. Apart from earning rewards on eligible retail transactions, make your money work harder by using discount codes whenever possible to bring down your overall costs.

For instance, you get to enjoy Browhaus, Strip, Spa Esprit, Agoda, Booking.com, KlookShopee and Zalora discounts with the DBS Woman’s Card or DBS Woman’s World Card.

#3 Earn accelerated rewards on rides

Think again if you’ve always had the perception that the ladies are the ones hopping onto Grab, Gojek and Tada rides all the time. Rides are convenient for anyone and everyone, including men.

As most women’s credit cards offer bonus rewards on online transactions, you’ll be pleased to know that ride bookings are eligible to earn these rewards!

#4 Earn accelerated rewards on online groceries and food delivery

Who wouldn’t agree that shopping online for groceries and online food delivery are a godsend for guys and gals alike? They are convenient and readily available wherever you may be.

Women’s credit cards like the Citi RewardsDBS Woman’s CardDBS Woman’s World CardUOB Lady’s Card and UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card all reward cardmembers on their online grocery and food delivery orders.

#5 Split big purchases and enjoy 0% interest payment plans

Sometimes, we find ourselves needing to turn big-ticket purchases into more manageable portions.

The DBS Woman’s Card and DBS Woman’s World Card let you do just that. Both cards let you enjoy 0% interest payment plans for up to six months, with 0% processing fee. Keep in mind that the processing waiver is a promotion the bank is running at the moment.

Using Citi Rewards instead? It offers Citi PayLite which lets you split your big unbilled retail transactions into small payments with credit card rewards, and Citi FlexiBill which lets you convert your credit card retail statement balance into instalments. Both facilities come with processing fees.

#6 Enjoy free e-Ecommerce protection on online purchases

In this day and age where practically everything can be acquired online —locally and abroad— it is no wonder banks are offering complimentary e-Ecommerce protection for online purchases to the demographic most likely to shop online.

Women’s credit cards such as the DBS Woman’s CardDBS Woman’s World CardUOB Lady’s Card and UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card offer complimentary e-Ecommerce protection for online purchases charged to these cards.

#7 These rewarding credit cards are accessible

Nobody says rewarding credit cards are reserved only for high-income earners. For the most part, the majority of these rewarding women’s credit cards (think: Citi RewardsDBS Woman’s Card and UOB Lady’s Card) have a minimum annual income requirement of just S$30,000.

Just to put things into perspective, the UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card has a minimum annual income requirement of S$120,000 while the DBS Woman’s World Card’s S$80,000.

Can men apply for the UOB Lady’s Card and UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card?

Unfortunately, no. UOB has made it clear that the UOB Lady’s Card and UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card are available only to the ladies

To get around this, men who want to get their hands on the UOB Lady’s Card or UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card can try asking a female family member to apply for the said credit card or a supplementary card. UOB Lady’s Card comes with one free supplementary card, while UOB Lady’s Solitaire Card comes with two.
