2 reasons NOT to get the UOB Visa Signature Credit Card
#1: High minimum spend and UNI$ cap
While the UOB Visa Signature Card offers enticing rewards, it comes with a catch: you'll need to hit a minimum spending threshold of S$1,000 both locally and an additional S$1,000 overseas every statement month to unlock its full potential. For some, this might mean stretching their budget or altering their spending habits just to qualify for rewards.
Furthermore, even if you manage to meet these spending targets, your rewards are capped at UNI$4,000. For those who love to spend big and dream bigger, this cap could be a bit of a downer.
However, it should be noted that these two minimum spend requirements are mutually exclusive; meaning to say, it is possible to only spend S$1,000 in overseas transactions or S$1,000 in petrol and contactless transactions respectively. You just wouldn’t be able to enjoy bonus UNI$ under both categories concurrently.
#2: Missing out on UNI$ for UOB$ Merchants
While the UOB$ Rebate Programme offers great rewards, here's the downside: when you shop at UOB$ merchants, you won't earn any UNI$ (aka no miles either). Instead, you'll only receive instant rebates in the form of UOB$ cashback.
While it's still a perk, it means you'll miss out on accumulating those valuable UNI$ for other rewards or travel opportunities.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is the UOB Visa Signature Card a premium credit card?
A: No, most premium credit cards usually have an annual income requirement of at least S$120,000 and incur hefty annual fees. However, the UOB Visa Signature card only has an entry-level requirement of S$50,000 annually.
Is the UOB Visa Signature Card better than the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa Card?
A: The UOB Visa Signature Card often provides enhanced rewards and benefits compared to the Preferred Platinum Visa card, such as higher cashback rates, accelerated rewards points, and exclusive privileges at partner merchants.
However, these enhanced perks and privileges come at a price – the Visa Signature Card comes with a higher annual fee than the Preferred Platinum Visa card. This is also because UOB's Visa Signature card targets individuals with higher incomes and lifestyles that match the premium benefits offered.
While both cards are great options, the Preferred Platinum Visa card may be more suitable for those who prefer a basic credit card without the additional frills and are looking for a lower annual fee option.
