1. Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Credit Card
With a hefty $588.50 annual fee and 35,000 sign-up bonus miles upon sign-up, this card packs a pretty punch.
To qualify for the welcome gift of 35,000 miles, you’ll have to pay the annual fee of S$588.50. Instead of dismissing this outright, consider this: paying the annual fee means you’re paying S$0.017 for one mile, lower than the 2 cents per mile that’s the industry average.
With 1.4 miles per local dollar spend and 3 miles per overseas dollar spend, you’ll be accumulating miles at a rate that’s way above the average air miles credit card.
Cardmembers also enjoy six complimentary visits to any Priority Pass airport lounge around the world per year. There is also complimentary travel insurance coverage of up to S$1,000,000 when you charge the whole trip to your card.
In addition to air miles, cardholders also get to enjoy dining privileges such as 1-for-1 offers at selected restaurants with The Good Life.
Get up to 15% cashback on Grab rides in Singapore and overseas. Valid till 31 March 2019.
But do take note that a minimum of S$2,000 charge must be made for higher miles earning, otherwise you will only earn 1 mile per local or overseas dollar spend.
Also, you will be given rewards points instead of outright miles, which you need to redeem for miles at a conversion fee of S$25 per block of 2,500 rewards points.
SingSaver Exclusive: For new customers, get an additional S$100 cash when your card is activated! Existing customers get S$50 cash.
Qualifying Criteria and Card Fees
Minimum Annual Income | Miles Per Dollar | Annual Fee | Additional Perks |
Singaporeans/PR: S$150,000
Foreigners: S$150,000 |
3 miles per S$1 spent overseas and 1.4 miles per S$1 spent locally, conditional on min. spend of S$2,000 per month.
Otherwise, 1 mile per S$1 spend if min. spend is not met. |
S$588.50
(receive 35,000 welcome miles with payment of annual fee) |
6 complimentary access passes to airport lounges each year |
2. Citi PremierMiles Visa Card
The Citi PremierMiles Visa Card is an air miles credit card that’s a steady workhorse when it comes to racking up miles. It’s slow and steady in terms of miles per dollar earn rates (1.2 miles per dollar for local spend, 2.4 mpd for foreign spend). Arguably, the best part of Citi PremierMiles Visa Card is that their Citi Miles never expire.
Apart from the 1.2 mpd local earn rate, the card also comes with a welcome bonus miles offer of 30,000 Citi Miles. But to qualify, you’ll need to spend S$7,500 within the first 3 months AND pay the annual fee of S$192.60. This makes the Citi PremierMiles Card a good card to pick up if your strategy is to quickly chalk up miles for your next holiday.
1 Citi Mile = 1 Mile with KrisFlyer, Asia Miles, Royal Orchid Plus, and many other Frequent Flyer Programs (FFP), but do take note that a S$25 administration fee will be charged for each FFP redemption. This means that the welcome bonus of 30,000 Citi Miles is equivalent to an economy class return ticket to Hong Kong or Taiwan.
Other card benefits:
- 2 x complimentary access to over 600 airport VIP lounges a year
- Complimentary travel insurance (up to S$1,000,000) and medical assistance programme (up to S$40,000) by charging tickets to the Citi PremierMiles Card
- Citi Miles have no expiry date
- Earn up to 10 mpd when booking hotels through travel site Kaligo
SingSaver Exclusive: For new customers, apply by 28 Feb 2019 and get S$200 in NTUC Fairprice vouchers, Takashimaya vouchers, or Grab promo codes upon approval. Existing customers enjoy S$30 vouchers upon approval.
