How to earn cashback with PayNow

To earn cashback with PayNow, you will need to have a Google Pay account.

Google Pay is offering weekly rewards in the form of digital scratch cards that you can receive in return for making certain transactions. Specifically for PayNow, these are:

  • PayNow peer transfer of at least S$10
  • PayNow in-store QR code or UEN payment of at least S$3

Both of these rewards are valid till 31 May 2024.

How to use PayNow with Google Pay

Step 1: Download and install Google Pay. You will be prompted to opt in for Offers and Rewards. You must agree to this in order to be eligible for cashback.

Step 2: Tap your profile picture in the top right.

Step 3: Tap “payment methods” and go to PayNow.

Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to link your PayNow to Google Pay.

Step 5: Once done, go back to “payment methods” by tapping on your profile picture on the top right again.

Step 6: Go to “Send money” to link your bank account. You can link a DBS PayLah!, OCBC, or SCB mobile banking account. If you do not have any of these three bank accounts, you can set them up first before returning to Google Pay to complete the linking.

Step 7: Go back again to “payment methods”. This time, tap “Pay businesses” to add a participating credit card.

Once all these is done, you can start using PayNow to pay for in-store purchases.

As for paying your friends or family using PayNow, you’ll need to do a couple more steps:

Step 8: Go back to the Google Play app’s home page and tap “New payment” at the bottom. You will be prompted to sync your contacts. You will need to allow this if you want to pay using mobile numbers.

Step 9: Sync your contacts to start using PayNow payments.

Once you’ve set everything up and synced your contacts, you can use Google Pay to make PayNow transactions, and start earning your scratch cards and vouchers!

What credit cards can you use with Google Pay?

You can link any Visa or Mastercard credit card from any of the following issuers:

  • OCBC
  • DBS
  • UOB
  • Standard Chartered
  • Revolut
  • Transferwise

How much cashback can you earn for PayNow with Google Pay?

You can earn up to S$10, twice a week. Note that you may not always receive cashback, as certain transactions give merchant vouchers instead.

Pay in-store via QR code or UEN, S$3 or more

Maximum two scratch cards per week. E-wallet top-ups not eligible.

Note the following restrictions on scratch cards.

For peer-to-peer PayNow transactions, if multiple payments are made to the same person within 28 days, only the first qualifying payment will be eligible to earn scratch cards or vouchers.

For merchant payments, if multiple payments are made to the same merchant in a week, only the first qualifying payment will be eligible for cashback or vouchers.

Hence, you’ll want to spread out your payments to earn maximum scratch cards, instead of spamming them over and over.
