Ergo TravelProtect travel insurance offers great coverage at low premiums. Though it doesn’t offer COVID-19 coverage, they make up for it with other forms of coverage including sports-related injuries, illnesses relating to pregnancy and even pet care.
I don't know about you, but ever since the festive period, there has been nothing but travelling on my mind. But after picking a travel destination, the next headache comes when you’re choosing a travel insurance plan to purchase.

Considering Ergo TravelProtect for your next trip? Let’s dive into what stands out and where it might not meet your expectations.
One major advantage is their comprehensive family plans, providing much-needed peace of mind for family vacations. Additionally, the sports coverage included is a great benefit for adventure-loving families. However, it’s important to note that some extreme adventure sports are excluded, which might disappoint thrill-seekers.
On the other hand, having home protection coverage means you can travel without worrying about your belongings, which can significantly reduce stress. Meanwhile, for your protection overseas, Ergo offers great terrorism coverage available in the Essential, Standard, and Deluxe plans.
A significant drawback, however, is the absence of COVID-19 coverage across all plans, which is a crucial consideration given the recent events of the pandemic and ongoing health concerns.
But, if you’re looking to take a refreshing break from the pandemic stress, Ergo offers great travel insurance for cruise vacations.
Balancing and reviewing these aspects can help you decide if Ergo TravelProtect aligns with your travel insurance needs, offering a mix of benefits and some limitations.

Detailed review of best travel insurance in Ergo
As we've reviewed Ergo's diverse travel insurance offerings, let's summarise our insights to assist you in selecting the ideal plan for your journey.
Basic plan*
If you’re eyeing straightforward and cheap travel insurance for Malaysia, Batam, or Bintan trips, the Ergo TravelProtect Basic plan might be exactly what you need. Designed specifically for these select ASEAN destinations, this plan simplifies travel insurance down to the essentials.
With coverage that includes up to S$25,000 for overseas medical expenses and an additional S$1,000 for post-trip medical costs back in Singapore, it covers the basics quite well. However, it's worth noting what it doesn’t do — there’s no coverage for trip cancellations, rental car excess, or pet care. So, if your travel style doesn’t require those extras, you’re in luck.
This plan is particularly suited to those looking for an economical way to cover short trips where the risk is low and the need for frills is even lower. If your journey fits this mould, then the Basic Plan could be your go-to option. Otherwise, for those needing more than just the essentials, Ergo's Essential or Deluxe plans might be more appropriate.
Essential plan
For those seeking a bit more coverage than the Basic plan offers, yet still desiring affordability, Ergo’s Essential plan is a good pick. It raises the bar with a higher coverage limit of up to S$200,000 for overseas medical expenses and S$10,000 for medical costs once you're back in Singapore.
Additionally, the travel insurance plan includes essential benefits like trip cancellation and baggage loss, ensuring a more secure and worry-free travel experience. Perfect for travellers looking for substantial protection without the premium price tag, the Essential plan strikes an excellent balance between comprehensive coverage and cost-effectiveness.
Standard plan
The Standard Plan from Ergo is particularly effective for travellers who often find themselves navigating diverse environments and unexpected situations. If you're the type to rent a car and hit the open road, the inclusion of up to S$750 for rental car excess coverage can be a game changer, reducing stress and financial risk from potential mishaps.
Additionally, this plan doesn't just look out for you; it considers your pets back home too, with thoughtful pet care coverage if you're delayed. It's a plan designed not just for travel protection but for a more holistic peace of mind.
This plan suits those who are looking for reliable insurance coverage that keeps pace with their adventurous spirits and varied itineraries.
With Ergo's Standard Plan, you're equipped to handle whatever your trip throws your way, from city escapades to serene coastal drives, ensuring a smoother, more enjoyable travel experience.
Deluxe plan
Ergo's Deluxe Plan is the ultimate choice for travellers seeking extensive coverage across all aspects of their journeys. With a generous S$1,000,000 limit for overseas medical expenses, it's suitable for everyone from the leisure vacationer to the adventure-seeker engaging in activities like bungee jumping.
This travel insurance plan ensures that whether your travel is for relaxation or exhilaration, you are thoroughly protected. It's a good choice for those who expect their insurance to deliver security and support in any scenario, making it a top recommendation for travellers who want peace of mind no matter where their journeys take them.
