Citi ThankYou Points never expire |
Do you have an upcoming trip finally making it out of the group chat? 🤪 If it's at least a 5D4N stay, then you're in luck! As a Citi Prestige cardholder, any hotel or resort booking reserved through Citi Prestige Concierge for at least four consecutive nights will be entitled to the fourth night free!
Essentially, cardholders will receive a rebate as statement credit for the fourth night within two billing cycles (up to 90 days) after completing the booking payment. This rebate value is calculated based on the average nightly room rate of the first four-night stay in the same hotel property.
Here's an example of what the breakdown will be like:
Length of stay |
1 June |
2 June |
3 June |
4 June |
Rate (Pre-tax) |
S$100 |
S$120 |
S$150 |
S$120 |
Average rate |
S$122.50 (Refunded to card) |
|||
Actual hotel points earned |
S$100 + S$120 + S$150 + S$120 = S$490 |
As seen here, the average nightly room rate for this is S$122.50. Consequently, this amount will be compensated to you in cash rebates from Citi. Notwithstanding that, you can still earn elite credit or hotel points based on your original full accommodation expenditure.
And yes, this applies to any hotel or resort worldwide. However, do note that the free fourth-night stay does not apply to hotel suites, rooms with lounge access, full and half board room stays, home & farm stays, service apartments, villas, and other packaged stays. Only prepaid rates on the hotel's website or Expedia can be booked.
💡 Pro-tip: Request Citi Concierge to help book the hotel at a no-discount rate to continue accumulating points towards your hotel membership status.
The Citi Prestige Card doubles up as a travel credit card, offering 5 ThankYou Points (2 miles) per S$1 on local spend and 3.25 ThankYou Points (1.3 miles) per S$1 on overseas spend.
And unlike other miles cards like HSBC Revolution Card or UOB Lady's Cards, the Citi Prestige Card has no cap on the number of ThankYou Points you can earn.
This means, you can continuously earn bonus miles on both local and overseas expenditures without worrying about any spend or bonus point limits.
What distinguishes the Citi Prestige Card even further from other Citi cards is its unique Relationship Bonus. Essentially, the better and longer your relationship with Citi Singapore, the more additional ThankYou Points you'll be entitled to.
Here's how Citibank will derive the additional point bonus based on your annual retail card purchase:
Tenure with Citi Singapore |
0 - 5 years |
6 - 10 years |
> 10 years |
With Citigold / Citigold Private Client relationship |
15% |
20% |
30% |
Without Citigold / Citigold Private Client relationship |
5% |
10% |
15%
|
Assuming you're a Citigold client who's been banking with Citibank for more than 10 years, your Relationship Bonus rate will be set at 30%. This means that you'll receive 30% bonus ThankYou Points based on your total card spend per year.
For example, if you spend S$30,000 per year, you'll earn 9,000 bonus Citi ThankYou Points. Now, accounting for 3.25 ThankYou Points per S$1 on these local expenses, that's 97,500 ThankYou Points. In total, you would've accumulated 106,500 ThankYou Points on your Citi Prestige Card.
Citi ThankYou Points can be redeemed in 25,000 blocks = 10,000 KrisFlyer miles.
Thus, 106,500 ThankYou Points can be converted to 42,600 KrisFlyer miles – which is enough to redeem a Singapore Airlines Business Saver Award ticket from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta!
Although it poses a high annual fee of S$545, this is not uncommon among metal credit cards. In fact, one could even argue that this figure is relatively modest among premium cards.
For perspective, the AMEX Platinum Charge Card has an annual fee of S$545, while the UOB Visa Infinite Metal Card has an even higher annual fee of S$654. None of these cards permits a complimentary fee waiver, either.
Additionally, all these cards require a hefty annual income of S$120,000.
So objectively speaking, the Citi Prestige Card is somehow one of the more attainable metal cards out of the bunch.
Unfortunately for Citibank, points cannot be pooled across cards, even if they're all Citi ThankYou Points.
While both the Citi Rewards Card and Citi Prestige Card earn these points, they must be converted separately for frequent flyer miles or cash rebates, each incurring its own conversion fees.
Additionally, if you choose to cancel the card, you'll need to transfer all your points out, otherwise they'll be forfeited.
