Best for young adults, families, and pet owners: CIMB Visa Signature Card
Okay, we know that these demographic groups are oddly specific but, it is what it is. The CIMB Visa Signature Card is one of the best cashback cards in the game, offering 10% cashback on a unique range of categories comprising online shopping, groceries, beauty & wellness, pet shops & veterinary services, and cruises. See what we mean?
But don’t let the specificity of these spend categories throw you off. On the contrary, this cashback card doesn’t discriminate against local or overseas spend for valid merchants. All purchases spent on our shores or across the border are recognised as valid so long as they fall under an eligible category.
However, the only two caveats are:
- Your overseas spend is most likely subject to either a 3% foreign transaction fee or a 1% dynamic currency conversion fee.
- The Online Shopping category excludes online retail spend for other non-stated websites, movies, F&B, travel, and airline transactions alongside other commonly-excluded MCCs.
As a result, the online retail spend acknowledged by the CIMB Visa Signature Card is rather niche and merchants must strictly adhere to the listed MCCs in the table above to qualify.
Simply satisfy the minimum S$800 spend per month and the 10% cashback will be all yours. This cashback is capped at S$100 per statement month, limited to S$20 per category.
If you fail to meet the spend requirement or you exceed the cashback cap, you’ll be reverted back to the 0.2% base cashback rate. On the bright side, this base 0.2% rate is rewarded as unlimited cashback with no minimum spend or cashback cap whatsoever.
Welcome Offer: Receive S$88 Cashback when you make a minimum of S$108 eligible spends within 30 days of card approval date. Plus, receive S$100 Cashback (S$188 in total) when you increase your minimum eligible spends to S$988 within 60 days of card approval date. Valid till 31 January 2025. T&Cs apply.
Additionally, CIMB Visa Signature cardholders are entitled to up to S$500,000 complimentary travel insurance coverage for you and your family when you charge your full travel fare to the card. The policy benefits include coverage for accidental death, permanent disability, baggage loss, baggage delay, flight delay, and trip cancellation.
However, only the coverage for accidental death and permanent disability will be extended to family members. They will not be covered for the other mentioned travel inconveniences. So it might be in your best interest to purchase extra travel insurance to cover all bases.

Best for a fun day/night out: CIMB World Mastercard Credit Card
Love hitting the town and other cool spots in Singapore for a fun day/night out with friends and family? Then you’ll love the CIMB World Mastercard.
Specialising in retail shopping, entertainment, and F&B, this unlimited cashback card caters to both everyday and luxury retail.
For a minimum spend of S$1,000 per month, earn 2% unlimited cashback on dining and online food delivery, movies and digital entertainment, taxi and automobiles, and lastly, luxury goods. For any monthly spend below that, you’ll earn a 1% unlimited cashback instead.
Meanwhile, for a minimum spend of S$500 per month, you’ll earn a base 1% unlimited cashback on all other spend. If you fail to meet that spend requirement, you won’t qualify for any cashback on other spend, which is a bummer.
As far as unlimited cashback is concerned, this 2% rate is the highest offered by any unlimited cashback card on the market. To our knowledge, other cards within this tier will offer between 1.5% to 1.7% unlimited cashback at best.
However, the minimum S$500 / S$1,000 spend requirements are quite significant drawbacks because other unlimited cashback cards don’t mandate any minimum spend at all.
Notwithstanding that, these high minimum spends come with good reason because CIMB World Mastercard cardholders are entitled to 50% off green fees at selected golf courses across Southeast Asia as well as paid access to over 1,000 LoungeKey airport lounges at only US$32 per pax per visit.
So honestly, do the monthly spends seem that bad anymore? 👀
At the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide if the CIMB World Mastercard floats your boat. But in general, we’d recommend it mostly to those who often go out or have a slight penchant for luxury shopping.

Best for luxurious travel perks: CIMB Visa Infinite Card
Always wanted a taste of the luxe life? Have a serious case of wanderlust? Well, if you ever thought of marrying the two together, you’ve got yourself the CIMB Visa Infinite Card – the ultimate cashback card for privileged travel.
Similar to the CIMB World Mastercard, it offers the highest rate of 2% unlimited cashback too; except, this card is specifically geared towards all 2% unlimited cashback on travel, overseas (both foreign and local currency), and online expenses (in foreign currency) with a minimum spend of S$2,000 per month.
All other spend will earn 1% unlimited cashback.
But wait, there’s more.
Designed with the luxe globetrotter in mind, it also comes with snazzy travel perks like 3 complimentary airport lounge visits per year (for primary cardholders) and discounts off airport limo transfer, meet & greet services, and selected dining outlets in airports worldwide.

Besides that, enjoy up to S$1 million complimentary travel insurance coverage for you and your family when you charge your full travel fare to the card.
Under this policy, you’ll be covered for accidental death and permanent disability, medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, baggage loss, baggage delay, flight delay, and trip cancellation, regardless of whether you’re a principal or supplementary cardholder or a spouse.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for your dependent child. Children are only insured for the medical components and trip cancellation portion of the plan. They will not be covered for the other aforementioned trip inconveniences.
This complimentary travel insurance also doesn’t come with COVID-19 protection. Thus to compensate for these gaps, you might want to buy other travel insurance plans for extra coverage.
Overall, if you’re an avid traveller, don’t mind the high minimum spend requirement, and prefer cashback over miles, the CIMB Visa Infinite Card will make a great travel companion for all your trips.
After all, none of the CIMB credit cards have an annual fee, so that’s one less thing to worry about. 😉

CIMB FastSaver Account
For instance, the CIMB FastSaver Account is a great option if you despise jumping through too many complicated hoops. This no-frills savings account lets you effortlessly earn up to 3.5% p.a. interest on your funds.
Otherwise, the CIMB FastSaver Account offers a respectable base interest of 1.5% p.a. on your first S$25,000 and up to 3.5% p.a. on the first S$75,000.
If you throw in your CIMB Visa Signature credit card spend, invest in CIMB investment or insurance products, or fulfil both criteria, you’ll be bumped up to 4.2% p.a. interest on as little as your first S$10,000 deposit in no time.
So if you’ve been on the hunt for a straightforward yet effective savings account, opening a CIMB FastSaver Account together is a no-brainer. Just don’t forget to apply for your CIMB Visa Signature Card while you’re at it! 😉

CIMB StarSaver Account
But enough said about the CIMB FastSaver Account. How about its slightly more elevated but still no-frills cousin, the CIMB StarSaver Account? We heard it’s great for those with more spare cash lying around.
This stellar savings account allows users to reap interests of up to 1.5% p.a. on the first S$100,000, 2.5% p.a. on the next S$150,000, and finally 3.5% p.a. above S$250,000.
At first glance, this 3.5% p.a. interest might pale in comparison to the 4.2% p.a. offered by StarSaver, but you have to understand – not many savings accounts offer such high-interest rates on these deposit amounts. Beyond a certain limit, many of them revert to the base interest rate.
For example, the UOB One Account reverts to the base 0.05% p.a. interest on savings above S$100,000, regardless of whichever account criteria you still fulfil.
This brings us to the next point, which is: there are absolutely no hoops to jump through to attain the higher interest tiers.
Overall, the CIMB StarSaver Account is a great savings account to dedicate as an emergency fund or for higher net-worth individuals.

CIMB Preferred Banking
Speaking of high net worth, allow us to introduce CIMB’s priority banking platform for premium customers – CIMB Preferred.
Although not as wildly advertised as some of its competitors, the CIMB Preferred still stands its ground pretty well.
From its open architecture to preferential banking rates to various service charge waivers, CIMB Preferred banking customers have access to a wealth (no pun intended) of financial tools and services that are not solely restricted to CIMB alone – i.e. you can apply for insurance and investment products from other providers.
Since 1 May 2023, CIMB Preferred banking customers also enjoy preferential fixed deposit rates of up to 3.4% p.a. interest on as little as S$10,000 and for as short as 6 months.
