Take for example the 6-course Blessings Set, which is available at S$238 for 4 pax (S$59.50 per pax). You’ll get five dishes and one dessert to savour – including smoked salmon yu sheng, fatt choy pork knuckle, and scallop and abalone bee hoon, and ending with peach gum cheng tng.

If you’re a foodie living in the Macpherson area, or nearby, chances are you’ve visited Liang Kee Restaurant for a meal or two. This beloved neighbourhood eatery is renowned for classic teochew cooking the way grandma used to make.
For CNY this year, Liang Kee has put up an affordable set menu starting at S$568 for 6 to 7 pax. This is a hearty 8-course meal that starts with the restaurant’s signature abalone yu sheng, and comes with braised shark’s fin with crab meat; steamed marble goby, teochew braised duck and braised ee-fu noodles (yeah, they’re old school).
For larger parties of 8 to 10 diners, you can enjoy an additional two courses (cold sweet prawns and steamed garlic scallops) with the extended menu costing S$688 – still great bang for your buck.
TungLuk Seafood – 5-course CNY Set Menu A (S$68 per pax)

Another option for small reunion dinner groups is TungLuk Seafood.
Ask for the CNY Set Menu A, which provides five courses at S$68 per pax. This set menu is available for minimum 2 pax, and is available at all five locations around the island.
What’s on the menu? Why you’ll start off with smoked salmon yu sheng, followed by lotus root soup with pork, TungLuk chilli crab meat, and fried ee-fu noodles. Rounding out the meal is a traditional dessert red bean cream with glutinous rice balls.
Ban Heng @ Boon Keng – 8-course Reunion Dinner Menu OA (S$698 for 10 pax)

Ban Heng has two outlets in operation, one at Orchid Country Club, and the other at Boon Kong. It’s the latter that you’ll want to go for a more budget-friendly reunion dinner set menu.
Priced at S$698, the Reunion Dinner Menu OA caters to 10 diners. It provides eight courses, headlined by salmon yu sheng, shark fin soup and braised 10-headed abalone, with a supporting cast of braised herbal chicken, poached live prawns and steamed live grouper fish. Honestly not too bad a selection if you’re a die-hard seafood lover.
Paradise Classic – 8-course Harmony Set (S$688 for 8 to 10 pax)
Date: 10 Jan to 16 Feb
Location: various outlets
The Paradise group of restaurants tends to skew towards the higher end of things, but their Paradise Classic franchise does offer a reasonably priced CNY reunion dinner set menu.
You’ll want to look for the Harmony Set, which is an 8-course menu serving festive favourites like abalone yu sheng, double-boiled chicken soup, steamed marble goby and braised sea cucumber. It’s priced at S$688 but caters to a maximum of 10 pax, so you can stretch your money a little if you dine with more people.
Note that this isn’t the most budget-friendly option; that would actually be the Fortune Set (8-course, S$568 for 8 to 10 pax), which is, alas, not available on Chinese New Year’s Eve. But you can enjoy this wallet-friendly set menu if your family isn’t too hung up on having reunion dinner on the eve itself.
